Nursing twins does cut into one’s knitting time.

The First Lady and the Matriarch have been home for just over a month now. They’re slowly wrapping up tests, with one big one for the First Lady tomorrow. It takes 90 minutes at least, and I have to be in the room with her, but can’t touch her. I was there for part of the test when she failed it (twice) before coming home, and it’s tough.

So, since my mother suggested that I bring some simple knitting, and the soakers are done (but will probably never be used) and I haven’t knit on my sock since I was in labor, I’ve started a pair of mittens.

Nine pairs of mittens and a pair of socks

Mittens and socks

Over the past several months, my mother and I knit nine pairs of mittens and she knit a pair of socks. They all went off to San Francisco today to be prepared for the trip to Afghanistan.

No more snow

It took far too long to find the black yarn, but the mittens are back on track.

We dodged a snowstorm this week. I hope it’s the last possible snow day for a while.

Sill more Kerry Blue

I just got back from my big conference.

I was lucky enough to be catching a ride there, and I brought along my mittens to finish. I figured I could bang out the first one and the second one on the way there, then work on Kerry Blue on the way home.

Unfortunately, I forgot to bring the black yarn for the stripes, which really stopped that short.

On the plus side, though, I got a lot of Kerry Blue done.

Finished Pax mittens

I finished the knitting of the Pax mittens. Before I start my next pair for the Friday snow day, I’m planning on using the size 4 dps to start a lace shawl.

Happy Sherlockmas!

Happy Sherlockmas!

Episode One of Season Three of Sherlock airs on PBS tonight. I took a nap so I can stay awake until the end. I’m not the only knitter who is excited about this; Annie Modesitt is releasing yarn colorways inspired b Sherlock.

I’ve been cleaning today, but I finished the toe on the Princess socks. It doesn’t look quite like the other toe, but the sock seems to fit much better.

I went to the all day meeting that has lots of knitting today. Three of us were knitting during all the discussion and one person was paper piecing a quilt.

Between the drive (I was lucky enough to be a passenger; the snow was pretty heavy) and the meeting, I finished a pair of mittens. I also got a little knitting done on my Runner 5 scarf.

Pictures tomorrow, once it’s actually light.
